Life sentence for raping his cohabitant’s great-granddaughter: verdict in Mykolaiv region
The court also found the man guilty of accessing child pornography
The court sentenced a 61-year-old resident of Mykolaiv Oblast to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of repeatedly raping a young girl and intentionally accessing child pornography. The Office of the Prosecutor General announced the outcome of the case.
The victim was the great-granddaughter of the convicted man’s cohabitant. She regularly visited her great-grandmother on weekends and during school holidays. The sexual abuse lasted four years: the man began abusing her when she was six years old.
In April 2025, the girl told her grandmother what had been happening to her. After learning about the abuse, her grandmother contacted law enforcement.
The court also established that the man accessed child pornography for his own viewing. He had no intention of selling or distributing the material. The defendant did not admit his guilt.
