In the Kherson region, two servicemen demanded $7,000 for a military medical commission’s conclusion
According to the investigation, the 38-year-old serviceman involved a 55-year-old colleague, and the arrest occurred after the second tranche was handed over
In the Kherson region, two servicemen were notified of suspicion of extorting 7 thousand dollars for allegedly influencing the conclusion of the military-medical commission, one of them was detained after receiving the second part of the funds in July 2026, and the court chose pre-trial detention for both with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 266 240 hryvnias.
According to the investigation, the suspects promised to help another serviceman obtain a conclusion of unfitness for service and subsequent removal from the military register, using connections to influence the MMC’s decision.
Investigators established that the initiator was a 38-year-old serviceman who learned of his comrade’s intention to undergo the military-medical commission due to his health condition and offered, for money, to “resolve the matter”; he involved a 55-year-old servicewoman in the scheme.
As the investigation claims, the serviceman handed over the first part of the funds in April 2026, after which the suspects advised him on undergoing the necessary medical examinations and assured him that they could influence the commission’s decision.
In addition, according to the prosecutor’s office, one of the suspects arranged with a hospital employee he knew to organize examinations whose results could serve as a basis for the MMC’s required conclusion.
In July, when, according to the investigation, the second part of the money was transferred, one of the suspects was detained, and both were ordered pre-trial detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 266 240 hryvnias; the criminal proceeding was qualified as abuse of influence committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons.
The Office of the Prosecutor General informed about the course of the investigation; details were published in their post on Facebook.
