Damages in the Voznesensk community were estimated at over 750,000 hryvnias
In Mykolaiv Oblast, the head of a farming enterprise is suspected of contaminating the lands of the Voznesensk community with hazardous waste. According to the investigation, the damage to the community amounts to more than 750,000 hryvnias.
Investigators of the Voznesensk District Police Department established that a 30-year-old entrepreneur whose activities are related to raising pigs organized the removal of liquid organic waste to an agricultural land plot.
According to the police, animal-origin waste was not pre-treated, processed, or disposed of in a manner provided for by law before removal.
According to expert conclusions, more than three hectares of agricultural land have been contaminated by environmentally harmful waste.
Under the procedural guidance of the Voznesensk District Prosecutor’s Office, the head of the farming enterprise was notified of suspicion of offenses provided for in Part 1 of Article 239 and Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
This concerns contamination of land by waste that is harmful to the environment as a result of violating special rules, as well as violations of environmental safety rules. The man faces up to ten years of imprisonment.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. According to Part 1 of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court’s guilty verdict.
