In Mykolaiv, law enforcement officers exposed an employee of a medical facility who, according to the investigation, promised to help illegally arrange a disability group for a man subject to military service for $6,000. The obtained status was then to be used to remove the man from the military register. The Communications Department of the Mykolaiv Oblast Police reported the exposure of the scheme on 30 June 2026.

The subject of the criminal proceedings was a 39-year-old nurse at one of Mykolaiv’s healthcare institutions. According to law enforcement, the woman sought potential clients among her acquaintances. She offered for money to help obtain a fabricated disability group that the person liable for military service could later use to be removed from military records.

The nurse allegedly assured the man that she could influence officials of the medical institution. She also promised to organize full support for undergoing the military-medical commission. The proposed “service package” was to include the preparation of the necessary medical documents with false information and assistance in adopting the decision to establish a disability group. The medical facility employee valued her services at $6,000.

The unlawful actions of the nurse were uncovered by investigators of the Mykolaiv District Police Department with operational support from officers of the regional office of the Security Service of Ukraine. Procedural guidance in the criminal proceedings is carried out by the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office.

Law enforcement officers documented the transfer of money. After receiving the second part of the agreed sum in the amount of $5,000, the woman was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

This concerns receiving an unlawful benefit for exerting influence on decision-making by a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with the extortion of such a benefit. If her guilt is proven, the medical worker faces up to 5 years imprisonment.

The court placed the suspect under house arrest as a preventive measure. Information about its duration and the restrictions imposed by the court is not provided in the police statement. Law enforcement officers continue the pre-trial investigation and are establishing all circumstances of the alleged scheme, including possible involvement of other persons.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a conviction of the court.
