Battle for a bench: in the Korabelnyi district elderly women chased teenagers out of the yard

The young people insisted that they hadn't littered and had simply been sitting on the bench

The editorial office “Korabelov.Info” received a video of a conflict between a group of teenagers and elderly women in one of the courtyards on Novobudivna Street in the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv.

The young people tried to find out why they were forbidden to sit in the courtyard, while the pensioners insisted that the adjoining grounds belonged to the residents of their building.

The author of the post claims that the women picked on the teenagers, chased them away, threatened to call the police and with “reprisal”, and also filmed their faces.

“On Novobudivna Street elderly women pick on teenagers, drive them out of the yard, speak inappropriately, threaten with the police and “reprisal”, and also photograph them.
I have a question: don’t they have anything better to do? Why can’t the children hang out peacefully?”.

At the same time, the published fragment of the video captures only the dispute itself, so it is impossible to determine what happened before the recording began.

During the conversation the teenagers asked why the women were photographing their faces without permission. One of the pensioners replied that she was in her own yard.

“We are in our own yard; we do what we want,” – said one of the grandmothers.

The woman who was holding the phone and filming the young people accused the girl of insolent behavior:

“Why are you talking back? You are talking back!”.

The author of the video denied being rude to her interlocutors:

“I’m not talking back. I’m stating the facts: you are driving us out, what right do you have?”.
“25 meters – that’s all part of our building’s territory. We pay for everything: the cleaner, utilities”, – explained the pensioner with the phone.

The girl responded that the group had come to this yard for the first time and had not left any trash behind.

The video sparked a heated discussion among readers. Some commenters suggested that the teenagers might have intentionally provoked the adults.

“Young people find it cool to tease adults and pretend to be important,” – comments one follower.
“Well, I doubt they were sitting quietly, but no law forbids making noise until 22:00. I don’t even doubt there was foul language, but they have the right to be there,” – Dmytro.
“I’d like to see these kids. Maybe they’re the same ones who were kicking apartment doors in our entrance? Nothing will happen to them. They called the police twice. They arrived fully equipped, in helmets, with automatic weapons. In the end they say they can only hold a talk. That’s what the law provides. They’re minors. The police know them by face and by name, but do nothing until these minors beat or injure someone. You have to wait. That was the explanation,” – Serhii.
“It seems to me that retirement has completely ruined them. They were young once, but they have forgotten… Dementia,” – Ruslan.
“You will be a pensioner too… Age is inevitable for everyone. And teenagers have become extremely insolent now. They’ve been spoiled, and now everyone is reaping the consequences,” – Mari B.
“Maybe dementia! But they are old people and not as mobile as young people. Out of respect, one could just move to another bench and not make a fuss. You can see upbringing right away,” believes a follower.
“Young people are idle and instead of playing, they foul things up as they can. And the swearing! One would have to learn to swear like that. It seems as if they have no parents. Such degenerates spoil the whole impression of young people. There are many good children, but there are also many scoundrels whom peers look up to. Unfortunately,” – Nata.
“Well, firstly, the old women had no right to film the children’s faces, and secondly, these teenagers on the video are still speaking reasonably with the old women. I understand that the old women started this conflict first. In my yard there are also such old women who are bothered not only by children but by dogs. When my grandson walks the dog, one of them even curses after him. So in this case I’m on the side of the children and teenagers,” – Hanna.
“These aren’t children, they’re provocateurs, and truly prepared ones. They don’t smell like children at all. Just cross paths with them yourself, then you’ll sing a very different tune,” – Mari.
“I don’t see in the video that these kids provoked these old women. And thirdly, you probably know very little about what old women can be like, but I know very well. I’ve been in conflict situations more than once where such pensioners were the provocateurs. I suffered from them in my time, so I don’t always side with the elderly,” – Hanna.
“I’ll be a pensioner. But remembering that I used to act up myself, I won’t reproach the youth. We’ve all been there. And all this – such hypocrisy…”, – Ruslan.
“I wasn’t an angel myself at one time either. One needs to have understanding, upbringing, and humanity,” – Liubov.
“But why focus on the old women? Do ordinary normal people really like loud noise, commotion and parties with all the consequences until morning under the windows of a house where you just want to live peacefully, rest and recharge in such a difficult time for all of us?”, – Olyana.
