Tall grass can hide death: in the territory of the Halytsynivska community, sappers destroyed shells
Rescuers remind: if you see a suspicious object — do not touch it!
In the Mykolaiv region, pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) work daily to clear territories of explosive ordnance left after Russian shelling and combat operations.
On 18 June, 2026 the press service of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv Oblast reported this.
Now, during the summer period, the danger only increases: air temperatures rise, grass grows tall and can conceal shells, mines, fragments of munitions and other life-threatening items.
Rescuers urge residents of the region to be especially careful during walks, outdoor recreation, work on household plots, in fields, plantations and shelterbelts.
People are advised to watch their step, travel only along familiar routes and not to enter uninspected areas. This particularly applies to places that may have been shelled or are located near former combat zones.
Recently the DSNS pyrotechnic team destroyed 2 artillery shells of 30 mm caliber that were found in a shelterbelt on the territory of the Halytsynivska community.

The rescue service emphasizes: there are still many such dangerous finds in the Mykolaiv region. The war left behind a large number of explosive ordnance, and not all of them are visible at first glance.
If you see a suspicious object, do not touch it, move it, disassemble it, photograph it up close or try to examine it yourself. Even an old, rusty or apparently “safe” munition can explode at any moment.
If you discover a suspicious item, move to a safe distance, warn others, keep children away from the site and immediately report the danger by calling 101 or 102.
While pyrotechnicians are restoring safety meter by meter in the Mykolaiv region, residents’ task is not to risk their lives and to follow mine safety rules.
