Law enforcement officer under suspicion: court denied bail in the case of an attack on a minor

The Komunarskyi Court Zaporizhzhia has placed in custody without the right to post bail a law enforcement officer suspected of sexual acts against a minor girl. This was reported on 28 May 2026 by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the investigation, a 14-year-old girl was returning home at night in Zaporizhzhia. She was intercepted by a drunk man and dragged into a roadside thicket where, according to the investigation, he attempted to rape. The girl for a long time resisted, shouted loudly and called for help.

A local resident reported this to the emergency line 102. A patrol arrived at the scene and detained the perpetrator. He tried to convince the police that the victim was allegedly his girlfriend and that everything happened consensually. However, the girl denied these claims at the scene. Later she confirmed this during an interview in the “green room” of the police.

According to the SBI, the offender turned out to be a local resident born in 1982, a married employee of a law enforcement agency. The State Bureau of Investigation informed him of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 15, Part 3 of Art. 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – attempted rape committed against a minor. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. If new facts are established, the qualification of the crime may be changed.

All investigative actions were carried out with full assistance from the leadership of the National Police of Ukraine. Procedural supervision is carried out by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
