There may still be people under the rubble: Russia destroyed the entrance of a nine-story apartment building in Kyiv
Rockets struck a school, homes and a clinic: Russia has shown the true price of its "peaceful" statements
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy May 14, 2026 reported on the aftermath of a massive Russian strike on Ukraine. According to him, a rescue operation is underway in Kyiv after a drone attack on a residential nine-story apartment building, where an entrance was completely destroyed. Dozens of people have been rescued, one person was killed, and people may still remain under the rubble. Information about the fatality and the rescue operation is also confirmed by reports from Ukrainian and international sources.
Over the night Russian forces launched more than 670 strike drones and 56 missiles at Ukraine. The strikes involved ballistic, aeroballistic and cruise missiles. The main target of the attack, the President said, was precisely Kyiv. Damage was recorded at 20 locations in the capital: residential buildings, a school, a veterinary clinic and other civilian infrastructure.
In addition to the capital, damage was recorded in the Kyiv region. The Russians also struck energy facilities in Kremenchuk, port and residential areas in Chornomorsk. Other cities were also hit, including Kharkiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kremenchuk and Bila Tserkva.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that since the start of yesterday the Russians deployed more than 1,560 drones against Ukrainian cities and communities. The President stressed that such actions do not resemble the behavior of a side that supposedly believes the war is coming to an end.
The head of state also urged partners not to remain silent after the latest strike and to continue supporting the defense of Ukrainian airspace. He specifically mentioned the PURL program, which Ukraine needs to counter ballistic strikes.
