Couldn't catch up with the children - took a pistol: police are checking the facts
In Cherkasy, the police are establishing the circumstances of a shooting incident that occurred May 9 in one of the city’s districts. The Cherkasy Oblast police reported this on May 10, 2026.
According to law enforcement, no calls were made to the emergency line 102 regarding this event. Police discovered information about the incident while monitoring social networks, after which they entered the details into the unified register and launched an investigation. It was preliminarily established that the conflict arose because of children who were picking lilac near a private residence. According to the police, the man tried to catch up with the minors, but he did not succeed. After that, he took a pistol out of the house and began shooting. As a result of the incident, no one was injured. Law enforcement is currently identifying the offender. The legal assessment of his actions will be given after all circumstances are clarified.
