"Bombing the building with comrades": Russian attack on Mykolaiv took the life of a Georgian soldier

In Mykolaiv, a 32-year-old Georgian fighter Bacho (Elguja) Bebia was killed. This was reported by the Georgian Diaspora in Ukraine. According to their information, the fighter was killed at dawn on April 20, 2026 “during the bombing of the building where he was staying together with about ten comrades”.
Bacho Bebia voluntarily took up the defense of Ukraine from the first days of the war. He was an internally displaced person from Sukhumi, lived in Odesa in recent years with his parents, and before that lived in Zugdidi for about 11 years. Later the fighter obtained Ukrainian citizenship and joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served devotedly in the military and rose to the rank of senior officer. Recently he carried out combat missions as a drone operator.
For bravery and service Bacho Bebia was awarded state honors of Ukraine, including the “Cross of the Brave” and the medal “Defender of the Fatherland”.
Currently the body of the fallen warrior has been transported to Odesa, where a public wake is taking place. On April 26 2026, Bacho Bebia is to be taken to Georgia. By the family’s decision, he will be buried in Zugdidi.
The Georgian Diaspora in Ukraine expressed condolences to the family and relatives of the fallen defender.
Relatives recall the words of Bacho Bebia, which became his life stance after losing his home:
“I have already once become a displaced person, and even at the cost of my own life I will not leave my home”.
