Russian troops landed on an island in Kherson: some were killed and captured

Russian landing groups landed on the shore of the Korabel (Ostriv) neighbourhood in Kherson on October 22. Two Telegram channels gave different accounts of the outcome of the operation to repel the landing: their reports disagree on whether all the occupiers were eliminated.

The Telegram channel “Forpost 34”, which is associated with the 34th Marine Brigade, described the enemy’s actions as an attempted series of sabotage landings. According to its report, soldiers from Russia’s 126th Brigade took advantage of the poor weather in the morning, but marines from the 34th Brigade were already waiting for them on the shoreline.

“All the groups were swiftly eliminated by our fighters; one Russian invader was taken prisoner. He has already told our intelligence officers a lot of interesting details,” the “Forpost 34” channel wrote.

Another Telegram channel, “KHERSON: Non Fake”, gave a different account of events. Its post claims that the occupiers managed to take over a building on Ostriv:

“Today we witnessed a successful landing by a small enemy group on the shore of the Korabel (Ostriv) neighbourhood in Kherson. The group of occupiers managed to land and take up defensive positions near ‘Maria Fortus’. Some of the occupiers from the 126th Russian Brigade were then eliminated. Others were taken prisoner. And another group (several people) managed to flee the landing site,” the authors of the “KHERSON: Non Fake” channel said.

The channel’s authors also criticised 34th Brigade commander Dmytro Pulinets, holding him responsible for the enemy landing. They also drew attention to the danger facing civilians returning to their homes:

“You published information about the enemy being swiftly and successfully routed. But some pensioners regularly go to Ostriv to check their homes; unfortunately, there is no avoiding this. You should explain to these people somehow that they are strongly advised not to do this in the coming days or weeks,” the authors of “KHERSON: Non Fake” noted.
