In Mykolaiv, artificial joints are being implanted in five hospitals: about 300 patients are on the waiting list, with waits of up to 1.5 months

Registration for the electronic queue is by referral from a general practitioner; the city carried out about 400 joint replacement surgeries last year

In Mykolaiv, joints for endoprosthetics are available to patients: operations are performed in 5 medical institutions of the city, however there is a waiting list. This was reported at a briefing by the head of the city’s health department, Iryna Shamray.

Endoprosthetics in Mykolaiv are performed at the Regional Clinical Hospital, the War Veterans Hospital and three city institutions: City Hospital No.5, the Emergency Medical Care Hospital, and City Hospital No.3.

Registration for the waiting list is done by contacting a family doctor or a therapist, followed by obtaining an electronic referral and registering at the chosen hospital.

In response to a question about whether it is possible to be on the waiting list for knee joint prosthetics at two hospitals at the same time, the official said that this issue falls under the competence of the Ministry of Health.

Describing the workload situation, Iryna Shamray gave current figures for the city institutions.

— I want to say that at the moment there are 72 people on the waiting list at City Hospital No.3, 179 patients at Hospital No.5, and 31 patients at the Emergency Medical Care Hospital. You choose the doctor, the hospital, and are registered in the electronic queue with a referral.

According to her, about 400 prosthetic procedures were performed last year.
