Swedish trams for Mykolaiv: the first car is already at the depot
Before entering service, the carriages require retrofitting and testing
The first tram from the Swedish city of Gothenburg has been delivered to the depot in Mykolaiv. The city is expected to receive around 40 of these trams in total.
They won’t be able to carry passengers on local routes straight away: first, the trams must be adapted to the gauge of Mykolaiv’s tracks and undergo technical trials. After that, they will be able to operate in the city.
“Yes, these trams are second-hand. But they are many times better than most of those operating in Mykolaiv today! And most importantly, they are still carrying passengers in Gothenburg,” said Yurii Smetana, director of Mykolaivelektrotrans Municipal Enterprise, in a post on facebook.com.
