A son hit his mother and took her phone in Mykolaiv

In Mykolaiv on September 22 the son, according to police, struck his 60-year-old mother, took her mobile phone and fled. The 31-year-old Mykolaiv resident was found within an hour, detained, and later the court ordered his remand in custody.

A report of the attack on Rayduzhna Street was received on the emergency line 102 at approximately 16:35. A neighbor of the victim contacted the police, saying that the son struck the woman, took her communication device and disappeared.

Patrol officers, an investigative-operational team and detectives from Police Department No. 3 of the Mykolaiv District Administration responded to the call. During the search, the man, who had previously come to the attention of law enforcement, was found on one of the city streets.

Police established that the phone taken from his mother had already been pawned by the man, and the money obtained was spent. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Under the procedural guidance of the District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Mykolaiv, the detainee was notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This concerns robbery committed under martial law, combined with violence that was not dangerous to the victim’s health.

The court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of detention. The man faces up to 10 years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
