Mykolaiv and 'Plast' agreed to jointly educate young people

On Tuesday, September 22, in Mykolaiv the city and the local branch of the youth organization “Plast — the National Scout Organization of Ukraine” signed a memorandum of cooperation on youth education. The document cemented a long-term partnership between the city and the scout movement.

The memorandum was signed by Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych and the head of the local Plast branch, Halyna Plechii. The parties plan to join efforts for the national-patriotic education of youth, their comprehensive development, the revival of Ukrainian traditions, and involving young people in active community life.

Plast is the oldest and largest youth organization in Ukraine, founded in 1911. Its activities are aimed at raising conscious, responsible, and active citizens and future leaders of society.

The organization’s scouting methodology combines several areas:

• teamwork in groups;
• outdoor life and camp culture;
• acquiring practical skills;
• development of leadership qualities.

The Mykolaiv branch is currently recruiting new groups. The organization accepts children aged from 6 to 18 years. Meetings are held once a week, lasting from 1.5 to 2 hours. A separate program has been prepared for each age category.

The academic period runs from September to May, after which members participate in summer camps of various themes and focuses. There, children can put into practice the knowledge and skills gained during the year.

Oleksandr Senkevych noted that after signing the document the city expects the branch to present a vision for further cooperation and specific needs for the development of the Plast movement in Mykolaiv.

By signing this memorandum, we are beginning cooperation. I expect information from you about how you see the city’s participation in the development of the Plast movement in Mykolaiv. I understand that you now need a team of like-minded people who will carry out this mission with you, and we are ready to support you in this. Therefore, it is important for us to understand how you plan this and how we can help you.
