A woman's body was found at the site of a dry grass fire: 16 fires occurred in Mykolaiv region over the past day — State Emergency Service report

September 18 a total of 16 fires were recorded in the territory of Mykolaiv region. At the scene of one of the blazes rescuers found the body of a deceased woman born in 1955.

This fire occurred on the open territory of the garden association «Pivnich-Pivd» in the Shevchenkivska community of Mykolaiv district. Dry grass and shrubs were burning there. The fire was extinguished over an area of 1 ha, and the circumstances of the woman’s death are currently being established.

Among other fires during the day:

• in the village of Karlivka in the Novoodyeska community of the Mykolaiv district, the roof of a garage on the premises of a private household caught fire;
• on an open area outside the village of Bolharka in the Vradivska community of the Pervomaiskyi district, the engine compartment of a combine caught fire.

Almost all other fires arose in standing deadwood and shrubs on open territories. The total area of such blazes exceeded 10 ha.

Units of the DSNS responded to all reports. During the extinguishing of some fires, rescuers were assisted by units of local fire protection services.
