Scammers promise teenagers Category B driver's licenses from age 16
After receiving an advance payment, they disappear or send a forged ID
In Ukraine fraudsters are offering minors the opportunity to obtain a category B driver’s license as early as 16 years. The National Police of Ukraine warns that such offers are a fraudulent scheme, and the document received may turn out to be forged.
Perpetrators place advertisements online and promise a supposedly official license without undergoing the required procedure. The Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Cyber Police emphasize: legally obtaining the right to operate a passenger vehicle of category B is only possible from 18 years of age.
For processing, scammers usually demand full payment or an advance. They ask that money be transferred to bank cards of front persons or to crypto wallets. After receiving the funds, the perpetrators may cease communication, and if they do send a license, it is fake.
The legal route to a driver’s license involves training at an accredited driving school and successfully passing the theoretical and practical exams at the Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Victims of such a scheme or people who have noticed a suspicious advertisement can report it to the Cyber Police online or contact the police at the numbers 102 or 112.
