The Office of the Prosecutor General confirmed NABU's night-time investigative actions in the leadership's offices

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine confirmed that around midnight detectives from NABU carried out investigative actions in the official premises used by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, his first deputy Mariia Vdovychenko, as well as other employees and units of the OPG.

Thus, the office confirmed the fact of the searches after earlier statements that no investigative actions had been conducted either at the prosecutor general’s home or in his office.

The OPG noted that the scale of these investigative actions, their factual justification and the list of materials to which the detectives gained access require a separate legal assessment. According to the office, during the searches NABU gained access, in particular, to materials from other criminal proceedings.

This concerns:

• materials of proceedings regarding possible unlawful actions by persons associated with the leadership of the SAP;
• materials of a case that contained information about possible unlawful activities by employees of NABU and SAP.

The Office of the Prosecutor General must establish whether the extent of the detectives’ access corresponded to the subject of the criminal proceeding within which the searches were conducted. They will also check whether the relevant materials were covered by court warrants.

Separately, the OPG commented on an investigation into the possible involvement of one of the office’s employees in the operation of fraudulent call centers. They emphasized that using an official position to cover up or facilitate criminal activity is unacceptable. The question of dismissing this employee is being considered, and an internal inquiry has been launched.

The Office of the Prosecutor General said it will cooperate with NABU and SAP, but insists that all law enforcement agencies comply with the law and procedural guarantees.

At the same time, sources from “Ukrainska Pravda” in political circles reported that after NABU and SAP began the operation “Carthage” they allegedly could not find Ruslan Kravchenko. According to the head of the investigation team at Ukrainska Pravda, Mykhailo Tkach, the prosecutor general drove into the government quarter, after which no one saw him.

According to the publication’s sources, at the time of publication the prosecutor general’s whereabouts had been unknown for more than 12 hours. Mykhailo Tkach also recalled that the day before the OPG had denied Ukrainska Pravda’s information about searches at Kravchenko’s.

At the same time, the Office of the Prosecutor General officially told Ukrainska Pravda that on Saturday Ruslan Kravchenko was at his workplace. The publication sent additional questions about since what time the prosecutor general was at work and where he was on the evening of September 4 during the investigative actions. At the time of publication, no answers to these questions had been received.

Earlier the media reported that searches were being conducted at the prosecutor general, his deputy and the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.
