He kicked down the door and carried two children out of a burning house in Mykolaiv region
A brother and sister in Sofiivka were hospitalized for observation
October 20, in the village of Sofiivka, Bashtanka district, local resident Oleh Nastiushenko rescued two children from a house that caught fire.
According to rescuers, they received a call about the fire from 9-year-old Tymofii. The boy said he was home alone with his 3-year-old sister Albina, and that a sofa in one of the rooms had caught fire.
The nearest fire and rescue unit is more than 20 kilometers from the village, so there was no time to waste in getting the children help. Oleh Nastiushenko, who was nearby, immediately rushed to the burning house.
The locked door prevented him from getting inside. The man broke it down and found the two children in the hallway. He carried them out into the fresh air and then took them to the village council, where medical staff examined the brother and sister.
Help arrived in time: according to rescuers, the children are doing well. However, given their age, doctors admitted them for 24-hour observation. Medical staff need to make sure there is no threat to their lives or health.
After the fire and rescue unit arrived, the fire was extinguished. It covered an area of 5 square meters.
