A rainless period continues in the Mykolaiv region, which, depending on the area, already amounts to 13 to 20 days. The most worrying indicator for agrometeorologists – as of 8 August 2026 the productive moisture reserves in the arable soil layer are completely depleted, while in the one-meter layer they remain unsatisfactory.

This was 10 August reported by the Mykolaiv Oblast Center for Hydrometeorology.

According to specialists, the current rainless period in Mykolaiv Oblast began on 22–24 July. As of 10 August, its duration in different parts of the region is from 13 to 20 days.

An exception was Pervomaisk, where the prolonged period without significant precipitation was interrupted on 8 August.

The regional center for hydrometeorology explained that a rainless period is considered to be one during which the daily amount of precipitation does not exceed 5 mm.

For agrometeorologists, the duration of such a period is an important indicator, since the amount of precipitation largely determines soil moisture reserves, which in turn affect the conditions for plant growth and development.

The most critical situation remains with productive moisture reserves. According to observations as of 8 August, they are already completely depleted in the arable soil layer.

In the one-meter soil layer, specialists assess the productive moisture reserves as unsatisfactory.

Thus, after another prolonged period without significant precipitation, a significant soil moisture deficit has again formed in the Mykolaiv region, which worsens the conditions for the growth and development of agricultural crops.
