During the past day in Mykolaiv region nine times wheat and barley crops burned. The Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv Oblast. reported on the consequences of the fires on July 2 2026.

According to rescuers, wheat standing in the field burned seven times, and in one case — barley. The fires were recorded in:

in the Nechayanska, Kostyantynivska, Stepivska, Kutsurubska, Halytsynivska and Shevchenkivska communities of Mykolaiv district;
in the Yelanetska community of Voznesensk district;
in the Bereznehuvatska community of Bashtanka district;
outside Mykolaiv.

The total area of crops destroyed by fire exceeded 74 hectares. Thanks to the work of fire-rescue units, it was possible to prevent the spread of the flames to an additional 343 hectares of crops.

In addition, in 36 incidents harvest residues on agricultural land, dry grass, shrubs, shelterbelts and reeds burned. The total area of these fires exceeded 126 hectares.

The day before, Russian forces attacked Mykolaiv region with strike drones. As a result of an enemy strike on the territory of an agricultural enterprise in Nova Odesa a 66-year-old truck driver was killed. Three other men aged 25, 42 and 50 were wounded. The attack damaged warehouse buildings and a truck. A fire broke out on the enterprise’s premises, which was extinguished by State Emergency Service units.
