At a hotel in Mykolaiv Oblast, a jealous man shot a woman eight times and fled to occupied territory

The investigation was conducted in absentia; the accused under Articles 115 and 263 of the Criminal Code faces 7–15 years' imprisonment

Prosecutors of the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office have sent an indictment to court against a resident of Zaporizhia region, who is accused of intentional homicide and illegal handling of weapons; the crime occurred in one of the city’s hotels in Pervomaisk, the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported.

According to the investigation, the man illegally purchased a firearm and ammunition in advance, after which he arrived at a hotel in Pervomaisk and waited there for his acquaintance.

When the woman arrived, the offender, acting out of jealousy, fired no fewer than 8 aimed shots in her direction.

The victim died at the scene from her wounds.

The investigation established that after committing the crime the man fled to the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, where he is hiding from law enforcement and the court, and therefore the proceedings were conducted under a special pre-trial investigation procedure (in absentia).

The investigation was carried out by investigators of the Pervomaisk District Police Department under the procedural supervision of the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office.

The case has now been sent to court; the accused is charged with crimes under Part 1 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional homicide) and Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal acquisition, storage, and carrying of firearms and ammunition).

If convicted, he faces imprisonment for a term of between 7 and 15 years.
