From Kerch to Ufa: what the Defense Forces struck over 40 days of the operation against the Russian Federation

For 40 days the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), together with other units of the Defense Forces, carried out strikes on Russia’s military, logistics and fuel-energy infrastructure and on targets in temporarily occupied territories. The publication RBC-Ukraine compiled the full chronology of the attacks on August 4, 2026.

The start of the operation was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 25 after a report by SBU head Yevhen Khmara. The head of state said he had approved a 40-day influence operation for the security service, aimed at prompting Russia to end the war.

Already on June 26 SBU drones attacked the shipbuilding plant “Zaliv” in occupied Kerch. According to the security service, the military support cable ships “Volga” and “Vyatka”, the ferry “Petropavlovsk”, as well as a radar station and the armament of an S-400 complex were hit.

In the following weeks, military airfields “Saky”, “Hvardiiske”, “Dzhankoy”, “Baherove”, “Belbek” and “Engels” came under attack. Reports indicated damage to hangars with Su-30, Su-30SM and Su-24 aircraft, a Russian bomber Tu-95, a fighter MiG-29, radar stations and air defense systems.

One of the main directions of the operation were strikes on Russian fuel infrastructure. Attacks were recorded at Slovyansky, Yaroslavsky, Saratov, Volgograd, Ryazan and other oil refineries. Also hit were oil depots, pumping stations and marine terminals.

Among the most distant targets was the Subkhankulovo linear production-dispatch station in Bashkortostan, the enterprise “Lukoil-Permnaftoorgsintez” and a cluster of three oil refineries in Ufa. The distance to some targets was 1,500–1,600 kilometers from Ukraine.

The Defense Forces also struck enterprises of the Russian military‑industrial complex. Among them was the “Titan-Barikady” plant in Volgograd, which produces launchers for missile systems, microelectronics and chemical industry enterprises in the Bryansk region, and a na research institute in Penza, related to the production of components for Russian missiles.

Another direction was strikes on Russia’s maritime logistics. According to RBC-Ukraine, during the operation tankers of Russia’s “shadow fleet”, ferries, tugs, naval boats, an oil production platform and other vessels in the Black, Azov and Caspian seas were attacked.

There were also reports of attacks on warehouse facilities of the Russian marketplace Wildberries in more than 20 localities in Russia. According to a Forbes estimate cited by RBC-Ukraine, the company may have lost at least 17% of its warehouse space. These figures are estimates.

Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov said the operation will continue and will not be tied to a specific number of days.

“40 days, 100 days, 15 days. The main thing is the result,” Budanov emphasized.

It is impossible to independently verify the claimed scale of damage to all Russian facilities during wartime. Some results were confirmed by satellite images, video recordings and statements from local Russian authorities, while for other targets only information from the Ukrainian side is available.
