Mykolaiv Electric Transport terminated a contract to procure cables after a media scandal
A recheck revealed the need to review some of the prices in the supply for the contact network
KP «Mykolaivelektrotrans», after an additional review of prices for cable and conductor products, decided to terminate the procurement contract; the company’s press service reported this, publishing a statement on Facebook in Mykolaiv.
The procurement covered power cables and other items needed for the repair and maintenance of the contact network, as well as for the uninterrupted operation of the city’s electric transport.
After the materials appeared in the media, the company re-evaluated the price proposals and concluded that certain items require revision, which is why the decision was made to terminate the contract.
The company plans to improve its approach to forming the expected cost of future procurements in order to increase the accuracy of calculations and avoid questionable price fluctuations.
Among the initiatives is reaching out to the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI) to implement modern tools, including artificial intelligence technologies, that will enable prompt monitoring of market conditions and analysis of price offers.
“Transparency, openness, and the most effective possible use of community funds are fundamental to us,” emphasized Mykolaivelektrotrans.
The company’s management also thanked journalists and the public for their attention to the issue of effective public finance management and for the remarks that contributed to the decision.
