In the Mykolaiv region, a man stored 500 grams of the psychotropic substance PVP for sale and received a 9.5-year sentence
The verdict in Pervomaisk has not yet become legally binding
In Pervomaisk the court found a 37-year-old man guilty of the illegal acquisition, possession, and transportation of the psychotropic substance PVP for sale in particularly large amounts. He was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
According to the investigation, the man received the psychotropic substances at a parcel locker and transported them home to later sell to customers.
This April investigators of the Pervomaisk District Police Department exposed the suspect and procedurally detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Authorities seized an iron can in which 2 zip-lock bags with the psychotropic substance PVP were hidden, with a total weight of 500 grams. Electronic scales and a mobile phone were also seized.
The detainee was notified of suspicion under part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal acquisition, possession and transportation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale in particularly large amounts.
In June investigators completed the pre-trial investigation and sent the indictment to the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office. The prosecutor’s office referred the case to the court for substantive consideration.
The court found the defendant guilty and imposed a sentence of 9 years and 6 months of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The verdict has not yet taken legal effect.
