"Where will pensioners go?": residents of Shyroka Balka protested against the closure of the Ukrposhta branch
People prepared a collective petition to the district administration and began collecting signatures
In the Shyroka Balka neighborhood of the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv, residents protested the planned closure of the Ukrposhta branch №54022. People gathered at the post office on 15 July 2026 to jointly defend its continued operation.
The branch is located at 60 Prybuzka Street. In Ukrposhta’s official postal code search service “Ukrposhta” it is listed as the city branch Mykolaiv-22 with the postcode 54022.
Postal services in the neighborhood are mainly used by elderly people. For many of them the branch remains a familiar place where they can receive pensions, social payments, letters, parcels, and pay utility bills.
During the meeting residents prepared a collective appeal to the district state administration and collected signatures against the branch’s closure.
Now the residents of Shyroka Balka will await the officials’ response and a decision on the post office’s future.
Official information from “Ukrposhta” about the reasons and the final date of a possible branch closure had not been published at the time of preparing this material. At the same time, in available reference services branch №54022 is still marked as active.
For the remote part of the Korabelnyi district the issue of access to basic services remains particularly acute. Residents of Shyroka Balka have repeatedly complained before about problems with transport, lighting and water supply, and have also joined together independently to solve local problems.
