8 million rides in six months: Mykolaiv trolleybuses carried one million more passengers
Passenger flow is automatically counted by the entry and exit sensors
During the first half of 2026, the trolleybuses of the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivelektrotrans” provided 8 million trips. That is 1 million more than in the same period of 2025, reported the company.
At “Mykolaivelektrotrans” they believe that the increase in passenger flow indicates growing demand for urban electric transport. More and more residents of Mykolaiv are choosing trolleybuses for daily trips around the city.
Passenger flow is counted by an automatic system installed in the trolleybuses. It does not collect personal data, but only records the number of passenger boardings and alightings. Therefore, it refers to the total number of trips made, not to 8 million individual people.
The obtained statistics allow the company to see the real load on routes, adjust trolleybus operations according to demand, and plan further network development.
Earlier, Mykolaivelektrotrans reported that in the first 6 months of 2026 passengers made almost 1.5 million payments through a single QR code. The number of such cashless payments increased by 24% year-on-year.
