Police raise the alarm: dozens of children have died in bodies of water
A few seconds are enough for a tragedy: parents were urged to watch over children near water
Since the beginning of the summer 2026 on the waters of Ukraine have died already 40 children. The National Police urged parents not to leave minors near the water unattended even for a few seconds. About the tragic statistics and rules of safe behavior 2 July 2026 the National Police of Ukraine reminded. Law enforcement stressed that every child’s death in the water is an irreparable and painful loss for the family.
Juvenile police urged children to swim only in permitted and specially equipped locations. Parents were reminded that little ones must not be left unattended even for a short time.
Teenagers need to be explained why it is dangerous:
- to jump into the water in unfamiliar places;
- to swim alone;
- to swim far from the shore;
- to risk their life for the sake of striking photos or videos.
The police emphasized that children’s safety on the water is a shared responsibility of adults.
“Protect children. Protect life,” — urged law enforcement.
