Inflatable ring found, child not found: search suspended due to risks to divers
Rescuers surveyed the sea surface and the seabed for five days
In the Odesa region, rescuers have stopped the active phase of the search for a 10-year-old girl who was carried by the current into the open sea near the village of Sychavka.
This was reported by the spokesperson of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Odesa Oblast, Marina Martynenko, in a comment to “UP. Life”.
The child went missing on June 19, 2026, while resting with her great-grandmother on an unsanctioned beach. The girl was in the water on an inflatable ring when the current carried her away from the shore.
Shortly after the disappearance, representatives of the Naval Forces found the inflatable ring. After that, a large-scale search operation involving rescuers began.
For five days specialists inspected the water surface and the seabed, but the child’s whereabouts could not be established.
According to Marina Martynenko, the active phase of the search was stopped. She also noted that the operation was conducted on a dangerous, undeveloped beach, where conditions posed a threat even to the rescuers themselves.
