A Kia and a truck collided on the Blahovishchenske–Mykolaiv highway: the driver was killed
Police are searching for witnesses to a fatal traffic accident
In the evening of 30 June 2026 in the Mykolaiv region a fatal road traffic accident occurred involving a Kia Sportage crossover and a MAN truck tractor with a semi-trailer.
The accident happened at around 17:30 on the road “Blahovishchenske-Mykolaiv” near the village of Kostyantynivka of Mykolaiv district.
According to the information from the communications department of the Mykolaiv Regional Police, a Kia Sportage and a MAN TGX 18.440 truck tractor with a Bodex semi-trailer collided.
As a result of the injuries the 50-year-old driver of the crossover died at the scene.
His 18-year-old passenger was hospitalized with injuries. The 37-year-old truck driver was uninjured.
Investigators from the investigative department of the Mykolaiv Regional Police are working at the scene. Law enforcement officers are establishing the causes and all circumstances of the collision.
Patrol police officers are directing traffic and ensuring the safety of other drivers on the stretch where the accident occurred.
A criminal proceeding was opened under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of traffic safety rules or the operation of vehicles by persons driving vehicles.
The sanction of the article provides for up to 8 years imprisonment with possible deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to 3 years.
