23 June 2026 residents of Mykolaiv will see off our Hero — 52-year-old Valentyn Kovshov. He gave his life for the freedom and independence of Ukraine, for each of us. His sacrifice — pain, pride and eternal memory.

Valentyn Kovshov was born on 2 May 1974 and died on 15 June 2026 on the Kherson front. He was an exceptionally good, kind and loving person, a caring father and son, a beloved husband who always supported, loved and helped everyone around him, – say friends and the fallen hero’s wife, Lyubov Kovshova.

At one time Valentyn worked at the Sandora company and also at Nibulon, where colleagues sincerely respected and honored him for his constant support and reliability. In the years before the war he worked at LLC “YUGEKOTOP”. In 2025 Valentyn voluntarily, following the call of his heart, went to defend Ukraine by joining the border guard forces — specifically the 79th Border Detachment. There he served faithfully until his last day, bravely fulfilling his military duty and giving his life for the freedom of Ukraine during an enemy artillery strike.

The funeral cortege will set off on Tuesday, 23 June, from the Regional Bureau of Forensic Examinations at 138 Mark Kropyvnytskyi Street at 10:45, will pass along Central Avenue and Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue to the “Zhukivske” roundabout in the Korablevnyi district, and then via the bypass road will head to the family home on Kakhovska Street.

After that the cortege will travel along Olshantsi Street and Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue, return to the church in Balabanivka, where a memorial service will begin at 12:00, followed by burial at the Alley of Glory of the Balabanivka Cemetery.

The family and friends of the fallen Valentyn Kovshov appeal to all residents of Mykolaiv:

🙏 We urge everyone to form a living corridor of honor. Let us stand shoulder to shoulder, with flowers, with hearts full of gratitude. Let our tears and silence be a worthy farewell to the Hero.

Eternal memory to Valentyn! Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!
