Despite the declared ceasefire, over two days the enemy carried out more than 150 assaults and nearly 10,000 drone strikes
The temporary ceasefire is in effect May 9–11 at the request of Donald Trump; Kyiv refrained from long-range strikes and warned of an immediate symmetrical response in the event of escalation
As of 19:00, no massive missile or air strikes on Ukraine were recorded; however, in frontline communities drone attacks and shelling continued, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported in his evening address.
The head of state gave an update on the operational situation in his evening video address, where he outlined the situation on the line of contact and in adjacent areas.
According to Zelensky, Russian units maintain assault activity on directions important to them: in the past two days, yesterday and today, more than 150 assault actions were recorded, more than 100 shellings, as well as strikes by various types of drones on the front, including nearly 10,000 kamikaze drone attacks.
“So on the front the Russian army does not observe silence and is not even really trying to. All our Ukrainian units act in a mirror-like way, defending our positions exactly as needed,” said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
He also said that yesterday and today Ukraine consciously refrained from using long-range strike weapons in response to the absence of massive strikes by Russia on those days.
“Going forward we will respond in the same mirror-like way, and if the Russians decide to return to full-scale war — our sanctions for that will be immediate and will be felt. Distance increasingly matters less — we have demonstrated this with our long-range capabilities. Ukraine always behaves clearly and honestly in this regard,” added President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
