Vacuum cleaners on wheels have hit the streets of Mykolaiv: municipal workers are slowly learning

In Mykolaiv residents have begun to complain about the operation of road sweepers used by the municipal enterprise “ELU Avtodorih”. People are upset by the noise, dust and the sometimes poor performance of the new specialized equipment.

This was said on Wednesday, May 6 2026, during a live broadcast by the director of the municipal enterprise “ELU Avtodorih” Vitaliy Shevchenko. According to him, the enterprise sees residents’ comments on social media and does not deny that at the start the equipment worked not as expected.

The head of the enterprise explained that the road sweepers are new to the municipal workers, so the staff are still undergoing training and are gradually mastering how to operate them.

“Regarding the sweepers, from social media we see that there are some complaints about their operation. We see that at first they didn’t work very precisely, they were very noisy and very dusty. But I ask you to treat this with understanding. Why is that? Because we are also learning and these sweepers are new to us. As with any specialized machinery, they need to be mastered”, – noted Vitaliy Shevchenko.

The municipal director separately emphasized that this is not only about training the workers. According to him, the machinery itself also requires some improvements to work more efficiently and not create unnecessary discomfort for residents.

“We are slowly moving toward the point where they (the sweepers – ed.) already work more or less normally and with quality. We already understand how they should operate. So I just ask you to treat this with understanding”, – the company’s director summed up.

Thus the municipal enterprise “ELU Avtodorih” essentially admits: the road sweepers in Mykolaiv are not yet working perfectly. At the same time the enterprise asks residents to allow time for workers to adapt to the new equipment and for its further adjustment.
