Fighters of the "Da Vinci Wolves" beat a young man and shoved him into a trunk: the battalion acknowledged the incident

In the Dnipropetrovsk region a scandalous incident occurred involving servicemen of the “Wolves Da Vinci” unit. According to local media reports from May 2 2026, the fighters allegedly beat and kidnapped a young man after he refused to sell them alcohol and closed the shop.

In the circulated video you can see how at night 4 men enter the store, pull the young man out, beat him brutally, then shove him into the trunk of a pickup and drive away from the scene. Witnesses claim that after that the victim was tortured and later dumped on the outskirts of the town.

The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Police also reported the incident. In the Synelnykove district police detained a group of people suspected of shooting near the store and kidnapping the man. After the attack the suspects tried to avoid responsibility and hid in one of the settlements of the region.

The report about a crime near the store in the town of Shakhtarske was received by the police on May 1 at about 23:40. During the pre-trial investigation law enforcement officers established that three men aged 38, 25 and 24 arrived at the store by car.

At that moment a female security guard and her acquaintance were inside the premises. A conflict arose between the arriving men and the 20-year-old young man, which escalated into a fight. According to the police, the attackers beat the victim.

After that the perpetrators put the unconscious man into the car. They then fired several shots from automatic weapons towards the store building. As a result of the shooting the facade was damaged and a fire broke out.

After the shooting the attackers left the scene. During initial investigative and operational measures, police established the victim’s location: he was found unconscious. The man was hospitalized in a medical facility.

Thanks to the coordinated work of officers of the Synelnykove District Police Department and staff of Police Station No.3 of the Synelnykove District Police Department, it was possible to identify the persons involved in the crime as well as the place where they were located.

The suspects were detained in a neighboring settlement. Three men were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The question of notifying the detainees of suspicion is currently being decided. Investigative actions continue.

In the battalion “Wolves Da Vinci” confirmed the fact of the incident involving their fighters and addressed the community of Shakhtarske. The unit said it was sorry about what happened and that such behavior is unacceptable and inconsistent with the battalion’s values and the image of a Ukrainian serviceman.

The appeal emphasizes that the community of Shakhtarske is special to the unit, as the town lives close to the war, supports the military and feels the consequences of the front every day.

The battalion reported that it is already conducting an internal investigation and cooperating with law enforcement. They promised that those involved in the incident will face appropriate punishment. They also noted that these fighters have been fighting for a long time and carry out difficult combat tasks as part of one of the country’s most effective units. At the same time, the battalion stressed that this cannot be an excuse for what happened.

The “Wolves Da Vinci” stated that they will not place responsibility solely on individual people, since the battalion’s reputation is formed by every serviceman. Therefore, as stated in the appeal, the entire unit will bear responsibility for this case.
