Police uniforms for the sake of TikTok: "pranksters" in the Mykolaiv region face fines of up to 34,000
Illegal use of the form is a violation of the law
In the Voznesensk district, law enforcement officers exposed two local residents aged 22 and 35 years old, who used official MIA insignia to create scandalous content. The men filmed and distributed videos on one of the popular social networks, where they displayed degrading behavior while wearing elements of a police uniform.
This was reported on May 2, 2026 by the Communications Department of the Mykolaiv Oblast Police.
Specialists in criminal analysis of the regional headquarters, together with the district police department, promptly identified the people in the video. It turned out that the suspects have no connection to law enforcement agencies and, therefore, are not authorized to use departmental symbols or any other signs of affiliation with the National Police. The offenders themselves explained their actions as an attempt to create “entertainment content”.
However, law enforcement emphasizes: a joking undertone does not exempt from responsibility for the use of official state service attributes. Currently, the police have seized the clothing shown in the footage and are establishing the sources of its purchase.
With regard to the 22-year-old offender, an administrative case was drawn up for the illegal use of the name and signs of affiliation with the National Police of Ukraine – Art.184-3 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (КУпАП). The sanction of this article provides for a fine of up to 34 000 hryvnias.
Thereafter the materials must be forwarded to the court, which will make the lawful decision in the case.
The police separately reminded that police uniform, identifying marks and symbols are official attributes of service activity and may be used only by employees of the National Police of Ukraine while carrying out official duties. Illegal use of the uniform is a violation of the law and entails administrative liability.
