"I can't afford it," Kim explained why he didn't trade Mykolaiv for Kyiv
He said he does not intend to step down as head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration
Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Kim said that he currently does not plan to leave his post, although personnel offers to move to another level had been made to him. He said this in an interview with the publication “Interfax-Ukraine“.
During the conversation, journalists reminded Vitaliy Kim that he has been heading the region for 6 years and asked whether he was tired of the job. In response, the head of the RMA said that in wartime he does not view this question through the lens of “tired or not”.
According to Kim, at such moments he looks to Ukrainian servicemen, who continue to do their work at the front even when it is extremely difficult.
“This is not about being tired. At such moments I look at our servicemen. If our guys are tired of working in the trenches, they still work there. So I have no choice. I continue to work, bear responsibility; I want to do a lot regarding the restoration of the region, regarding the post-war recovery of the country. I want to implement the ‘South 2.0’ strategy,” said Vitaliy Kim.
Vitaliy Kim was also asked whether he had received interesting offers from Kyiv. He confirmed that such options existed, including at the national level, but he turned them down.
“I will not go into detail about the offers. There were offers. I don’t know whether it’s a promotion or not — to the national level — I refused. I have a task in the region that I must complete. I have projects that need to be brought to their logical end, including pre-war ones. I want to lay down a system and a foundation so that when my work here is finished, everything will run and operate without me. I want to be proud of what I have done. Because my family and I tie our future to Mykolaiv. Therefore I cannot allow myself now, so to speak, to accept attractive offers,” said Kim.
