In Mykolaiv, 66% of noise measurements exceed permitted levels: loudest at intersections; the main source is road traffic
In the first quarter of 2026, exceedances were found in 39 of 59 inspections; doctors warn of sleep disorders and cardiac risks
In the first quarter of 2026 in Mykolaiv, specialists from the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health conducted 59 noise level measurements, registering exceedances of the maximum permissible limits in 39 cases — that is 66%.
The monitoring results were reported on the center’s official Facebook page.
The agency reminded that the situation has not changed significantly: in the same period of 2025 the share of exceedances was 61%, which indicates persistently high noise exposure.
Elevated levels are most often recorded in the same locations where air pollution is observed — near busy traffic intersections.
The main factor shaping the noise background in Mykolaiv is identified as road traffic.
The center’s specialists also drew attention to possible health risks from prolonged exposure to elevated noise levels.
High noise levels can negatively affect health – causing fatigue, irritability, sleep disturbances and even cardiovascular diseases
