34th Separate Marine Brigade published on the social network X a video with footage of the destroyed town of Oleshky in Kherson Oblast, showing the consequences of the Russian occupation and the transformation of the settlement into an almost uninhabited space.

The published clips capture smashed buildings and empty streets: the scale of destruction caused by Russian forces demonstrates that life in Oleshky has almost disappeared. There is no usual urban activity in the footage, and the destroyed infrastructure indicates a prolonged humanitarian and security crisis.

The military accompanied the post with a short caption, comparing the eerie silence and the look of the town to the mood of the film «Interstellar».

“A city the Russians have turned into a ghost. And here nobody will rewrite the script anymore”

Back in March, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported that in occupied Oleshky normal life had effectively ceased: residents lack access to basic services, and attempts to deliver food often end in tragedies due to the danger on the roads.

“The city is facing a catastrophic shortage of drinking water, there is no stable electricity or gas supply, and medical assistance is limited. People are forced to ration every sip of water and every crumb of food. And attempts to deliver supplies result in drivers’ deaths or transport failures due to deadly danger on the roads! This is not just a humanitarian crisis. This is deliberate terrorism by the Russian Federation against the civilian population”
