17 fires in the region in 24 hours: a house and reeds burned in Mykolaiv, an outbuilding in the village of Halytsynove..
The total area affected by fires in ecosystems exceeded 5.8 hectares
During March 23 and the night of March 24, 2026, on the territory of Mykolaiv Oblast, according to the State Emergency Service (DSNS), 17 fires were recorded. Of these, four were extinguished by rescuers in the private sector:
In the city of Mykolaiv, ceiling structures and a kitchen exhaust hood in a residential building caught fire over an area of 10 sq.m..
Three more times firefighters extinguished outbuildings: in the villages of Halytsynove of Halytsynivska Hromada, Zavodske of Zavodska Hromada of Mykolaiv district, Oleksandrivka of Horokhivska Hromada of Bashtanka district.
The sharp surge in fires on open land caused the most concern. In one day in the oblast dry grass, reeds and rubbish burned 12 times. Such ignitions were recorded in Nechayanska Hromada of Mykolaiv district, Kazankivska and Bratska Hromadas of Voznesensk district, Bashtanska Hromada of Bashtanka district, as well as in the cities of Pervomaisk, Snihurivka, Bashtanka, Ochakiv. Among others, firefighters extinguished a reed fire in the Alyaudy microdistrict of the city of Mykolaiv covering an area of 2,200 sq.m.
The total area of fires in ecosystems over the day exceeded 5.8 hectares. Such a dynamic does not mean just another statistic, but a real danger to residential neighborhoods, farms and people, especially where the private sector borders open plots and dry vegetation, as often happens in settlements of the region and the regional center itself.
Rescuers once again remind: setting fire to dry grass, rubbish or reeds can, within minutes, result in loss of property, a threat to people’s lives and a large-scale blaze that cannot be stopped by one’s own efforts.
