Ukrenergo March 19 2026 warned about a new wave of fraudulent messages that are actively spreading on social media. They promise Ukrainians allegedly monetary compensation for previous prolonged periods of forced power outages.

The company notes that the forms of such posts can vary. Scammers mention “payments” supposedly together with “Oschadbank”, the UN or the Red Cross to give their scheme more credibility and gain people’s trust. Ukrenergo emphasized that such messages are manipulation of a sensitive public issue. The company explained: NEC “Ukrenergo” is the transmission system operator, not a supplier for household consumers, so it cannot make any compensatory payments to the population.

According to the company, attackers send people links to fake websites styled as “Oschadbank” or other well-known institutions and organizations. Then users are asked, supposedly to receive money, to enter their bank card number, its expiry date and the CVV code.

It is after entering these details that scammers gain access to accounts and can withdraw funds. Ukrenergo urged people not to follow suspicious links, not to enter any personal or banking data on third-party sites, and if the details have already been entered – to immediately block the card.

Ukrainians are also advised to use only official sources of information and to warn relatives and acquaintances about this fraud scheme, which is spreading again against the backdrop of the painful issue of power outages.
