Bloody “defense” against mobilization: police officer and soldier stabbed in the abdomen
In Mykolaiv, a man injured a police officer and a serviceman of the Territorial Recruitment Center with a knife: the attacker was detained
In Mykolaiv law enforcement officers detained 33-year-old local resident, who during a document check attacked with a knife a police officer and a serviceman of the territorial recruitment and social support center. Both victims with stab wounds were hospitalized, and the attacker now faces up to life imprisonment.
The incident occurred on March 17, 2026 during activities to notify citizens. To police department No. 1 of the Mykolaiv district administration a report was received that a joint police and TCC patrol had attempted to check a man’s documents. He refused to provide them, behaved aggressively and suddenly pulled out a knife. As a result, he inflicted wounds to the abdomen and leg of the police officer and the serviceman. The injured were urgently taken to hospital.
Law enforcement officers quickly identified the attacker and detained him in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. During the detention, they also seized the instrument of the crime — a knife. Investigators qualified the detained man’s actions under Art. 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — an attempt on the life of an employee of a law enforcement agency or a serviceman. The article’s sanction provides for 9 to 15 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
An investigation to establish all the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
