From Heating Mains to Doghouses: Thermal Insulation Being Stripped in Mykolaiv
Damage reduces network efficiency and requires repair costs
Regular damage to the thermal insulation on heating network pipelines in Mykolaiv reduces their efficiency. Restoring the protective coating requires additional expenses.
The insulation’s purpose is to retain heat as the heating medium is transported. In some cases, however, the coating is stripped from the pipes, and the material is put to an entirely different use—for example, to build doghouses.
Specialists from Mykolaivoblteploenergo Municipal Enterprise regularly encounter this kind of damage. Later, residents also submit complaints about the poor condition of the thermal insulation.
The enterprise urged residents to take care of municipal property and leave the pipelines’ protective coating intact. Restoring it requires not only materials, but also time and the work of specialists.
