Acute respiratory viral infections are on the rise in Mykolaiv region: nearly 74% of cases are children
Over the week, 1,492 people in Mykolaiv fell ill
The season of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in Mykolaiv region is gaining momentum: the number of cases continues to rise, and almost 74% of the patients are children. Nevertheless, as of 5 October 2026 the epidemiological situation in the region remains under control.
During the 40th week of 2026 the region recorded 3,053 cases of influenza and ARIs, including COVID-19. Of these, 1,492 cases were in Mykolaiv.
The incidence rate reached 279.81 cases per 100,000 population — which is 1.5% higher than the previous week. At the same time, the overall level of morbidity remains 41.6% below the epidemic threshold.
There were no laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza in the region last week. 10 samples were tested for influenza and other respiratory viruses, and each returned a negative result.
Residents are advised to follow simple preventive measures:
- Wash hands more often.
- Ventilate indoor spaces.
- Avoid close contact with people who have cold symptoms.
- Stay at home if you feel unwell.
