Monitoring for influenza and acute respiratory infections has been stepped up: the epidemic season will continue until May 23, 2027

In Ukraine, the season of intensified epidemiological surveillance for influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections has begun. It will continue until 23 May 2027, the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine noted.

During this period, physicians and epidemiologists will monitor incidence levels in the regions and determine which viruses are circulating among the population. For laboratory studies, samples will be taken from the sentinel network, which includes 34 healthcare facilities.

Specialists will also analyze changes in incidence indicators. This should help promptly detect the start of an epidemic upsurge and, if necessary, strengthen the response.

Medical institutions and laboratories began preparing for the new season in advance. They tested the system’s ability to operate under increased load, during possible power outages, and under other war-related challenges.

Before the start of the epidemic season, the first case of influenza A was already confirmed in the Mykolaiv region.
