Russia struck the energy sector: hourly power outages introduced in several regions
The attack was the largest since the end of the last heating season
After a combined strike by Russia on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, several regions had to introduce hourly power outage schedules. The cause was damage to energy facilities. In scale, this attack is the largest since the end of the last heating season.
To speed up the restoration of damaged equipment, the Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo are launching a special mechanism. As explained by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretsky, it will cover the entire process: from technical inspection to commissioning of equipment.
At the same time, Ukraine is introducing new rules for renewable energy facilities, aligned with the standards of the European Union. The relevant law was signed by the president on September 25.
An important component of these changes will be the creation of zones for the accelerated development of renewable energy.
