63 schools and 43 kindergartens: what educational network will be approved in Mykolaiv
Education at 27 kindergartens remains suspended
The Executive Committee of the Mykolaiv City Council plans to approve the network of municipal educational institutions for the 2026/2027 school year. The draft decision defines the number of schools, classes, students, kindergartens and out-of-school education institutions.
The general secondary education network will cover 63 institutions, which include 1,111 classes for 32,556 students:
- 2 primary schools — 6 classes and 102 students;
- 22 lyceums — 529 classes and 16,008 students;
- 39 gymnasiums — 576 classes and 16,446 students.
The general network also includes 4 special classes for 202 students. Inclusive education will be organized in 424 classes, attended by 718 children.
A separate section of the draft concerns special education institutions. The Mykolaiv Special School for Children with Visual Impairments is planned to have 11 classes and 7 preschool groups. 130 children will study in the school division, and 116 in the preschool division.
Educational activities in the city have resumed in 43 kindergartens. They operate 383 groups, attended by 7,387 children. Among these institutions, 1 is of the general type, and 42 are combined.
There are 189 inclusive groups in kindergartens for 389 children. At the same time, the preschool network has not yet fully resumed operation.
As of September 1, the educational process remained suspended in 27 preschool institutions, as well as in the internal preschool unit of Primary School No. 1 of the Mykolaiv City Council.
These institutions will be able to resume work after inspection of buildings and premises to determine whether they can be used as basic shelters. Approval from the Mykolaiv District Military Administration is also required for in-person learning.
The out-of-school education network will include 7 institutions. They will have 159 clubs and 470 groups, attended by 6,583 children.
In the new school year, municipal educational institutions will be funded within the city-approved limits for their maintenance.
