"'Pregnant protest' against mobilization turned out to be a Russian AI fake — CPD"

Fake photographs have appeared online supposedly showing pregnant Ukrainian women who allegedly joined a protest against mobilization in Ukraine. In the images, the women hold sheets with calls not to mobilize men and to leave them at home.

The Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine stated that these frames are not real. Checks with specialized content-analysis tools showed that the images were generated using artificial intelligence.

According to the CCD, the fakes were first circulated by a network of Russian channels on Telegram. The Center asserts that this network systematically creates and distributes fakes made with AI.

The aim of such a campaign, as explained by the CCD, is to create the impression that a mass protest against mobilization is underway in Ukraine, and to prompt social media users to further spread false content.

The Center for Countering Disinformation called to check the origin of such publications, maintain information hygiene, and not share materials whose authenticity is in doubt.
