She gave birth on her own and hid the infant's body: case over a murder in Volyn

At night on August 3 in one of the villages of Kovel district in Volyn a 21-year-old woman gave birth to a full-term baby boy without medical assistance. The infant was born alive and weighed 3.35 kg.

According to the case materials, the woman did not register with medical institutions and was not under doctors’ supervision.

The investigation claims that after childbirth the mother killed the newborn. She placed his body in a plastic bag and hid it.

The woman was notified of suspicion under Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — for intentionally killing her newborn child. The prosecutor’s office noted that she faces up to five years in prison.
