The SBU searches a military intelligence officer: lawyer reports doors broken down
Possible connection to the assassination attempt on businessman Vadym Yermolayev
On the morning of Friday, November 6, officers from the Security Service of Ukraine arrived to search a servicemember of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense. His lawyer, Masі Nayyem, wrote about it on Facebook. He represents the servicemember and went to the scene of the investigative actions in person.
The search may be connected to the investigation into the attempted assassination of Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaiev in Monaco. This connection remains unconfirmed for now.
Describing his client’s detention, Nayyem said law enforcement officers broke down the door, forced the servicemember to the floor, and handcuffed him. The lawyer also claims that SSU representatives should have waited for officers from the DIU internal security unit, but did not.
In a comment to Ukrainska Pravda, the lawyer separately said that the search was conducted without a court warrant.
The editorial team of Ukrainska Pravda contacted the SSU to request an official explanation of the law enforcement officers’ actions. As of publication, the agency had not released a response or stated its position on the search. Details of the investigation are also not yet known.
