A woman put two little ones to bed — a moment later, an explosion: in Hlevakha a Russian drone killed three

In the evening of 19 September 2026 Russian forces attacked the Kyiv region with drones. In the settlement of Hlevakha in Fastiv district, a strike on a residential building took the lives of a 39-year-old woman and two small children — a boy and a girl.

According to the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the attack occurred at around 20:52. The strike seriously damaged a two-story residential building.

Preliminary findings indicate that in the evening there were three families with children near the house. The woman brought two little ones inside to put them to bed. At that moment an explosion occurred.

The boy and the girl born in 2023, as well as a 39-year-old woman — the boy’s mother — were killed. Kyiv region police clarified that the boy was 2 years old and the girl was 3 years old. The prosecutor’s statement does not mention any family relation between the deceased woman and the girl.

The strike damaged the roof of the house and the floor structure between the storeys. A fire broke out after the explosion, which firefighters extinguished. Police also reported another injured woman in Hlevakha.

Prosecutors, investigators, police and State Emergency Service personnel worked at the scene of the tragedy. At the time of the prosecutor’s first official report, the specific type of drone used by Russian forces to carry out the strike was still being determined.

Under the procedural guidance of the Fastiv District Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the violation of the laws and customs of war that caused deaths — under part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

That same evening the consequences of the Russian attack were recorded in other districts of the Kyiv region. In the Vyshhorod district a mother and a child were wounded and hospitalized. In the Fastiv district damage to private residential houses and a car was also reported.
